A joke too far?

For everyone severely creeped out by my last post, allow me to reassure you all by pointing you to my source.

Yup, it's satire, folks. Pure, simple bullshit

However, it is eerily plausible, isn't it? What does that say about this country, that something which is so obviously sick, twisted and wrong can, under the cover of religion (or at least religiosity), actually seem possible?

Please, feel free to discuss.

Thank goodness - after posting my comment I went and did some webcrawling and found the funny behind it. But remember that I am from SC, so it isn't that hard to imagine. Y'know?

where do you get the religion part???

Why, Mr. or Ms. 'Mous(e), from the site's FAQ, of course!

Currently, the site seems to be down. However, the FAQ, in response to the question "Is this even legal?" responded by saying that most states allowed girls to marry, with parental consent, at the age of 13, while the concept of the "Bride Price" is a well-established and ancient religious practice--hence protected under freedom of religion guarantees. They even linked to the Wikipedia entry for "Bride Price." They also linked to a few select passages from the Bible which speak of such a thing.

As I said, currently the site is down from where I'm sitting, for whatever reason. However, perhaps you will have better luck and read the FAQ yourself?
